The Many Ways You Can Help

As the November election approaches, we know everyone is inundated with fundraising
requests. With the never-ending expense of communications – and the increasing need for
candidates to battle GOP disinformation – it’s important to donate what you can. But there are
other ways you can volunteer and help us flip the Pennsylvania Legislature, some of which can
be accomplished from the comfort of your own home.

Text and Phone Banks

Volunteer to help get important information out to voters (or potential voters) – such as
registration deadlines, ballot mail-in and election-day voting locations. Or advocate for
issues important to you – such as reproduction rights, voter protection, or environmental
issues – through texts or voicemails. All that’s required is a smartphone and/or a home
computer. After a quick and easy training session, you’re set to go.

There are many text or phone bank volunteer opportunities – check out these links:

Canvassing with Candidates

Join a candidate as she knocks on doors to secure the vote for Election Day. You will be
given training and all the materials needed. If you are new to canvassing, you’ll be paired
up with an experienced canvasser.

For those who want to have more direct contact with voters, the following volunteer
opportunities are available:

Election Day Poll Observers

These volunteers assist at polling places across the state on Election Day to ensure that
every eligible voter can cast a ballot. You will be trained and assigned a location and receive
ongoing support. You can choose to observe for the duration of Election Day or for a half
day.

Early Vote Monitors

These volunteers assist voters outside Boards of Election and satellite locations during early
voting, which has been running since September 9 and will end on November 1. You will
assess any issues that arise and provide guidance to voters as needed. Training and support
throughout the process will be provided. You don’t have to be a PA voter to be an Early
Vote Monitor.

Canvass Observers

After the polls close on November 8, these volunteers help ensure that every vote is
counted by monitoring the process of counting ballots – also known as canvassing ballots.
This work runs approximately two weeks following Election Day and varies by county.

Voter Assistance Hotlines

These volunteers answer questions about voting and address issues reported by voters in
real time. You don’t have to be a PA voter to volunteer for this.

volunteer opportunities:
