Represent PA learns about voters, voting, and the census with Erin Casey, Executive Director of PA V

Do you know the value of the count? On May 16 Represent PA hosted a breakfast in Center City featuring Erin Casey, Executive Director of PA Voice. Erin explained that the census directs billions of dollars in federal aid to states and determines legislative representation nationwide. Pennsylvania has a vested interest in making sure every resident is counted to ensure the commonwealth gets its fair share and citizens have fair representation. Pennsylvania currently receives more than $39.2 billion annually through census-backed programs, according to the George Washington University Institute of Public Policy, meaning an undercount could cost the state hundreds of millions of dollars annuall

Update: Special Elections and Endorsements

As special election season draws to a close, Represent PA is very proud of the progressive women who we were able to support. In March, we endorsed Movita Johnson-Harrell for state representative in HD-190, located in west Philadelphia. Before entering politics, Movita founded the CHARLES foundation and served as the victim witness services and restorative justice supervisor for Philadelphia D.A. Larry Krasner. She ran an excellent campaign and won her election, filling a seat previously held by a democrat. In April, we endorsed Pam Iovino for state Senate in SD-37, located in Pittsburgh's northern suburbs.
