Breakfast Briefing - Legislative Freshmen: How's it going in Harrisburg?
Time & Location
About the Event
So we’ve sent some women to Harrisburg. It’s their first year. Wonder what they’ve been up to? How have they fared? Just generally, how’s it been?
In 2018, the number of women in Harrisburg was 19.4%— since then we brought it up to 29.6%. Let’s keep it going!
Join Represent PA on December 9 at 8:30 am for a moderated discussion with three of Represent PA's previously endorsed Freshman State House legislators:
- Nancy Guenst, HD-152 (Montgomery). Nancy is the first Democrat to hold this seat since its inception in 1969.
- Regina Young, HD-185 (Philadelphia, Delaware). Regina is a former educator and the first African American woman to represent the PA State House of the 185th district.
- Jessica Benham, HD-36 (Allegheny). Jess is the first out woman from the LGBTQ+ community and first openly Autistic person to serve in PA’s General Assembly.
Each of these women legislators represents very different districts and parts of Pennsylvania. We look forward to hearing from them about their first year in office as well as their re-election plans.
It’s extremely exciting to work with more women - nurses, attorneys, doctors, moms; the inclusion of women in the general assembly just makes for better policy making.
Helen Horstmann-Allen from Represent PA’s Executive team will moderate the discussion. Come hear from these energetic women and learn about what’s next for them.
