Breakfast Briefing: The State of Women's Health in PA
Time & Location
Mar 31, 2021, 8:30 AM
About the Event
Represent PA is hosting a discussion about women’s health in Pennsylvania and how we could improve it and make it more equitable. The briefing features Dr. Ann Honebrink, OB-GYN with Penn Medicine, a member of the Philadelphia Maternal Mortality Review Committee and has been involved in advocacy for Women’s Health issues at the state and national level, alongside Rep. Morgan Cephas, HD192 (West Philadelphia), who currently leads the House Democratic Caucus' efforts on women's health.
This topic in Pennsylvania is one of Represent PA’s key values. We believe that decisions about contraception and abortion should be made by the individuals involved, not by politicians or the government. The most effective way to prevent unintended pregnancy is easy access by everyone to affordable contraception and reproductive healthcare in the community and schools.
Many of the bills that address these concerns have been or will be reintroduced for this new legislative session. This includes:
- providing 12-month postpartum Medicaid coverage
- paid family leave
- expansive contraception access
- workplace accommodations for nursing moms or pregnant women
- supporting policies that address the high rate of maternal mortality in Black women
Christine Jacobs, Executive Director of Represent PA will moderate the program. RSVP by clicking here to receive the briefing link. Please join us and don't forget to share with your friends!
