Breakfast Briefing – The environment and environmental injustice
Time & Location
About the Event
On July 8 at 8:30 am, join Represent PA and Senators Carolyn Committa and Amanda Cappelletti for a discussion about the environment and environmental justice. They will deliver a tutorial on current environmental issues, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) and why Pennsylvania needs to be involved. Consider:
Pennsylvania ranks 44 in the state of our natural environment
Pennsylvania is the only state that does not tax those pulling oil and gas from our state
PA Power Sector was labeled 5th dirtiest in the nation
People of color are 39% of the population living within three miles of existing & proposed power plants; yet they are only 22% of PA’s total population
"Instead of debating RGGI, PA should join speedily, and the legislature should debate how to most equitably use the revenue both to support those who work in polluting plants and to address environmental injustice." - Carolyn Committa
Join Represent PA for its latest Breakfast Briefing, moderated by Christine Jacobs, Executive Director of Represent PA and consider inviting your friends and neighbors to listen in and hear about important environmental issues affecting everyone.
We look forward to seeing you in cyberspace!
